Potassium permanganate inorganic chemical compound with formula KMnO4. It is a strong oxidizing agent. It dissolves in water to give intensely pink or purple solutions, the evaporation of which leaves prismatic purplish-black glistening crystals. Side effects of potassium permanganate are irritation of the skin and discoloration of clothing. If taken by mouth it is deemed to be very toxic.
