Acetone also called 2-propanone or dimethyl ketone is an organic compound with the formula (CH3)2CO. It is a colorless, volatile, flammable liquid and is the simplest ketone. Acetone is miscible with water and serves as an important solvent in cleaning purposes in laboratories. Acetone is most commonly known as the solvent that removes nail polish, but it is also found in bath and fragrance products, hair and skin care products, skin-lightening products and as paint thinner. Acetone is commonly used in chemical peeling.

Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) is an anionic surfactant. Sodium lauryl sulphate lowers surface tension of aqueous solutions and is used as fat emulsifier, wetting agent, and detergent in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and toothpastes. It is also used in creams and pastes to properly disperse the ingredients and as research tool in protein biochemistry. Sodium lauryl sulphate also has some microbicidal activity. It used in fire fighting equipment also used as foaming agent in shaving creams and shampoos. It is an inexpensive and very effective foaming agent.

Barium sulphate is white, odorless inorganic compound with the chemical formula BaSO4. It is insoluble in water. It is also insoluble in alcohols, and soluble in concentrated acids. Barium sulphate has several medical and radio imaging uses. Barium sulphate is widely used as a radio-opaque agent or X-ray contrast agent to diagnose gastrointestinal medical conditions.
